ARI COVID-19 RESEARCH PROJECT

Background

On the onset of the COVID-19 Pandemic in Africa, ARI started a COVID-19 research projected focused on Africa. The project aims to develop COVID-19 Epidemiological Models and COVID-19 Risk Factors. COVID-19 Epidemiological Models for Africa remain limited and there is a limited understanding of the risk factors of Age and Disease to COVID-19 in African countries. ARI Developed a COVID-19 SEIR Model which accounts for excess deaths due to the COVID-19 pandemic, COVID-19 Age and Disease (HIV, Tuberculosis, Diabetes, and Hypertension) Risk Factors for African countries. ARI also estimated the prevalence of HIV, Diabetes, Hypertension, and Tuberculosis in Africa for 2020 and developed Age & Disease COVID-19 Risk Factor Datasets. We are currently writing Epidemiological Reports focused on identifying COVID-19 High-Risk Groups, predicting COVID-19 Cases, and looking at the impact of Afrikan government responses on the COVID-19 Epidemic using ARI’s SEIR Model.
